Too Much of a Good Thing

Too Much of a Good Thing 6-30-13

Too much of a good thing can be bad.  Sadly, this is the case with most of my favorite restaurants.  I’m not the type of person who orders something different every time…  I’m the type who orders until I find something I love, and then I get it every single time for the next decade.  I enjoy it for quite a long time, mind you, but eventually…I get sick of it.  The process starts when I start getting slightly pickier about my order…  I’ll ask for it without lettuce, with extra pork, jalapenos on the side, etc. etc.  That’s the first sign my perfect meal is going down the tubes.  Next, I’ll start paring it down to the bare minimum…what was once a ten ingredient food is now a three ingredient food.  That means I’m not far from the last step…not being able to stand the taste and texture of the meal anymore.  Sad day when it finally arrives…  I need to learn to pace myself!  If anyone has advice, feel free to share.  UhOh

Body Hair

Body Hair 3-24-13

Yes, I’m tackling this subject.  How brave am I?  Oh wait, I’m gonna cop out and just give a link to someone else who’s brave.  WinkGrin  I was looking up when the trend of shaving began, and found this.  Verreh interestin’.

Madame la Guillotine

Madame la Guillotine 3-16-13

Creepiness…  I found out that the guillotine is not such a relic of the past as I always imagined.

Public beheadings were carried out until nearly 1940.

The last guillotining in France occurred in 1977none

The death penalty in France was abolished in 1981.

First Time Renters

First Time Renters 3-11-13

I’ve been reading lots of awesome advice on what to consider and what questions to ask when you’re looking into renting for the first time.  Here are some great blogs and lists of questions I found…

Natural Exfoliant

Natural Exfoliant 3-2-13

Did you know that running around on the beach is actually healthy for your feet?  Sand is a natural exfoliant, and sloughs away rough skin while you frolic and play.  Just be sure to moisturize afterwards, because all that exfoliating and salt water can suck your skin dry.

Power Lines

Power Lines 2-24-13

I finally looked up why it is that people get electrocuted by fallen power lines, but birds sit on them all the time, no worse for wear.  I’d heard reasons before, but an unscrupulous person recently entered combat with me on this topic.  Ahem…I was right all along.  Wink Smilie

Birds can sit on power lines because they touch only the power lines.  The current all but ignores them, since they’re not leading anywhere…there’s no path for the electricity to follow.  However, stand on the ground and try to pet that bird?  You’ll both get zapped.  You’d be completing the path to the ground and giving the current a place to go.  Tsk tsk.  No touchy birdies.

The GEICO Gecko

The GEICO Gecko 2-23-13

heh heh  Guess what I learned today?  The GEICO Gecko was only created because there was an actors strike and they couldn’t use a real person.  bwahaha  Lucky us!

Ballet Feet

Ballet Feet 2-19-13

I’d heard the stereotypical “ballerina have ugly feet” thing before, but I looked it up today and was pretty shocked.  It’s crazy what these poor girls (and guys) put themselves through!  Here’s a very informative article full of real dancers’ quotes, or if you prefer a visual, have at it.

What really bothered me though, was this.  Very sweet at first glance, but then I thought…what mother who knows the permanent damage and pain ballet can bring would subject her little girl to it?  *growls disturbedly and wanders away*

Keyboard Shortcut – New Browser

Keyboard Shortcut - New Browser 2-12-13

Much as I like my pretty purple wireless mouse…I do get sick of switching up and down and back and forth from keyboard to mouse all the time, as I’ve mentioned before.

So today I decided to see if there was a keyboard shortcut for opening a new browser window.  This is especially important to me, because with my new computer, the Firefox icon doesn’t stay on the taskbar like before.  It becomes the tab, meaning instead of one click for a new browser, I have to do two…  bigeek  Clearly, two clicks is unacceptable.  Especially when my hands are on the keyboard.  *scoff*

The magical solution?  Well, it’s not so magical, and there is one drawback.  You have to already have a browser open and on top of any other windows…  Try doing this in iTunes and you’ll wind up whoopsydaisily making a new playlist.  BigGrin

Ahem, so, back to the magical solution.  Ctrl+N.  You’re welcome.  Trendy

Frogs…do…what?!

Frogs...do...what 2-10-13

Alright kiddos, this one’s gross.  Today, I learned that some frogs are capable of popping their stomachs inside out, through their mouth, to empty the contents of a disagreeable meal.  HairRise  That is all.  none
